Why is it important?

  1. It is important because if we teach a second language through a specific content/topic in a cultural context, is more possible that students get new knowledge and improve their second or third language to communicate. We have to keep in mind that people learn faster with interesting things. It isn't the same thing learn just grammar that learn new vocabulary with natural sciences or social studies.

  2. CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) is so important because it is an approach that gives us good methodologies to teach subjects like social studies, Science, Geography, history through a foreign language. According to the video, David Marsh talks about foreign textbooks as a tool to operate and prepare a successful class at school. On the other hand, he says that CLIC is a very exciting education experience due to the fact that this approach can be implemented in primary and secondary education. During the interview, he mentions something important, it happens when a teacher is teaching badly is because of the teacher isn’t using CLIL in a good way, that is, the methodology used by the teacher is not called CLIL. To sum up, CLIC is an important approach to teach subjects through a foreign language.

  3. This approach must be one of the most important ,that's why the students have the possibility to use all skills in different moments. Further,It involves an important improvement in terms of speaking and thinking in other language which imply not only improves production based on the language ,but also cognitive skills. In addition, the high intensity at time to learn any topic using the second language make us realize the students would have a vast space to practice it and to interact with others without ever losing its use. Thus, there are some essential reasons which show us how we can integrate a language approach and how the video show its importance too.It happens, when David Marks says CLIL is an integrating language deeply into authentic content learnig ,in which we evidence the role of CLIL.Furthermore , He mentions what's the problem when the teachers don't explain correctly the first language affecting the second one , avoiding the success of this approach and inviting us to update our knowledge. Finally,to me, in his most relevant contribution,David Marks says: It doesn't exist a bad CLIL, It exists a bad way to teach and apply it. Here, I agree and I end by saying we should reflect and take into account this approach in the best way to create meaningful knowledge in our classrooms.Surely , we will learn a lot from it.

  4. Although the implementation of CLIL in the David Marsh curriculum is still at an early stage, the materials in the slides and student feedback show that visuality is important in encouraging children to use the target language whilst they learn a new set of skills or new content. The positive aspect of the use of CLIL is that the approach seems to motivate students who initially may not be showing a high level of communication skills but are interested in the content taught through the activities. In future, it would be useful to explore the different ways in which the meaning of the new language can be explored by students through gestures, movement and kinesthetic input through the art CLIL activities conducted in be an excellent approuch to teaching alll kind of subjects in english language. 5. CLIL is an important teaching approach in which language is developed through several subjects, improving language skills, taking into account that the subjects are going to be taught in a foreign language. It is a fundamental tool because students will acquire new knowledge through their daily activities within the school, using that new knowledge to facilitate their performance beyond the school, giving them new speaking, thinking, and understanding capabilities.

  6. In CLIL languages is used to learn as well as the communicative, besides it determines the comprehensible ways, using diagrams, illustrations, practice and highlighting term, likewise language learning is surrounded by myths. Thus, it can be very successful in enhancing the learning of languages and subjects and developing in youngers a positive attitude towards themselves as languages learners

  7. CLIL assumes that subject teachers are able to exploit opportunities for language learning. The best and most common opportunities arise through reading texts. CLIL draws on the lexical approach, encouraging learners to notice language while reading.CLIL encourages the use of curriculum which promote the right interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and communication and language abilities which are in demand by today’s employers.

  8. Content language integrated learning is a kind of approach that allow us, the teachers, teach based on contents that are important for a specific context. Using this methodology, students will learn the topics of a second language in an implicit ways, considering that is not centered in teaching grammar and formal contents or structures.

  9. I think that CLIL is a methods where can we as teachers make it easier to teach a second language by this method students will be able to learn easier a specific issue they want to learn. CLIL stands for Content Language Integrated Learning. It is the teaching of a subject such as science, or history through English to learners whose first language is not English. It is also known as Content based Learning. What changes is the focus. Instead of focusing on the language, you focus on the content. The best news is you don’t even have to be subject matter expert to teach CLIL.
for example: Lessons are based around highly motivational topics using a top down approach. the content is familiar to students and multiple intelligence friendly. also the students focus on fluency and communication and have the opportunity to experiment with language.
